From Engines to Precision Parts: How Truco Became a Trusted CNC Partner
What makes a CNC shop truly trusted? At Truco, it’s not just our machines — it’s our story. For more than five decades, we’ve been solving problems for our customers with the same grit, skill, and commitment to getting it right. Here’s how a small engine shop grew into a trusted CNC machining partner for food and pharmaceutical manufacturers nationwide.
A Family Shop with a Mission
Truco started in 1969, when Andy’s father left his job at Dunlop Tire to start his own shop. A lifelong tinkerer and competitive hydroplane racer, he combined his love of engines with entrepreneurial grit. At first, Truco focused on rebuilding engines for post office trucks, big trucking fleets, and racing enthusiasts.
Over the years, the shop became a staple of the Buffalo, NY industrial scene, moving locations to accommodate growth. Andy grew up in the business.
“I painted the old building for an RC car when I was 14. I’ve been around this business my whole life.”
When his father passed the torch, Andy took over the shop and kept it moving forward, determined to keep Truco alive.
“My dad would be proud. He was excited when we bought our first CNC machines, and he’d be proud to see what it is today.”
Why We Pivoted to CNC Machining
By the late 2000s, it was clear the engine rebuilding business was in decline. Fuel injection, longer engine lifespans, and industry consolidation meant fewer and fewer customers needed the work. The company struggled to stay afloat.
“I saw what it is to be near bankruptcy. I figured out how to get out of it — and I’m never going back.”
Andy saw an opportunity at a trade show, where a CNC machine sparked an idea. He brought Mike, a talented machinist, on board and invested in Truco’s first CNC mill. The shop began taking on a new kind of work — low-volume, high-precision jobs that other shops wouldn’t touch.
“Here’s the broken part. Fix it. That’s the kind of work we love.”
Trusted by Food and Pharma Manufacturers
Today, Truco is a trusted partner to food and pharmaceutical manufacturers nationwide. Why? Because we understand what’s at stake. When a line is down, every minute costs money. And when compliance is on the line, every detail matters.
“It’s not just about making a part — it’s about making it right, and making sure it fits and functions exactly as it should.”
We specialize in:
- CNC machining mission-critical parts
- Preventive maintenance programs for mixers and pumps
- Small-batch, high-precision manufacturing
- Reverse engineering and compliance-ready components
What Sets Truco Apart
At Truco, we pride ourselves on being the shop you can count on when others say no. Mike, our lead machinist, sums it up well:
“We’re a little different here. You hand me a part, and I figure it out. I’ll have questions — because I want it perfect.”
Building on a Legacy of Problem-Solving
Resilience and innovation are part of Truco’s DNA. What started as a small engine shop is now a CNC machining partner trusted by some of the biggest names in food and pharma.
“What started as an engine shop is now something much bigger. We’re solving problems that keep critical operations running every day.”
